Without immediate and continuous financial assistance 'Hobbiton Cat Refuge Center' will have to close and the 200+ cats (60+ are kittens between 2 - 10 weeks old) will have to be released to fend for themselves.
We have debts for food and veterinary assistance in excess of 15,000€ and our providers are unwilling to continue to deliver the necessary supplies and services until the outstanding bills are paid.
In this time of global financial crisis, when everyone is struggling to make the best of the situation we beg of you, don't let innocent animals suffer for the want of a few euros each month.
One less pack of cigarettes or a couple of beers, one less visit to the cinema or DVD rental, a walk to the local shop instead of driving, one less bar of chocolate or sweets, one less of anything per month will save you a couple of euros and a couple of euros from you and others can amount to sufficient to enable us to continue.
Please don't ignore this plea - our cats need your help to survive.

13. May 2009: Obituary Ms Claudia Streicher
We sadly announce that our founder and treasurer Ms Claudia Streicher has left us forever. She lost her brave battle for life after a long severe illness.
Her love for the animals was immeasurable and is irreplaceable. Nevertheless, we will try to continue her life´s work.
FLIP was an adorable, affectionate tom-cat, 15 years old and always flipping on his back for cuddles. He was Nicola´s and Werner´s first cat and therefore one of their main reasons for starting animal welfare.
Not only that made him so special. Even though he suffered from Feline Fibrosarcoma for some months, he was always good-tempered, cuddly and friendly. He died at home on February 28th. He will never be forgotten and his spirit will help us to continue our work.
This little heart-throb is 6 months old and unites the best characteristics from all breeds: Oriental head, gorgeous blue eyes, bushy tail and a very symmetric cream-coloured streaks. He already lives at his foster home in Garbsen/Hanover. Please contact Andrea Wegner directly and ask for "Nougat".
Tortoise shell kitty Goldie (7 months) and her white friend KNUT (5 months old) flew to Munich on January 20th and now live at a foster home. They love each other dearly and play together all day long, therefore they should be adopted as a pair.
They found a new home three months ago, but unfortunately the new owners undergo drastic changes in their private lives and therefore, can not keep them.
These two kitties are exceptionally sweet, cuddly and playful. Real bundles of joy. Who can make them the nicest gift for 2009 and adopt them? They are both 8 months old and already inocculated and spayed.
May we introduce you: AMBER (left), 10 months old, really A GIRL, although she looks like a tom-cat, very sweet and cuddly with amber-coloured eyes. Absolutely adorable.
And RANIA, black Persian, exceptionally beautiful, as she is no suffering breed and is therefore lucky to have A NOSE! 1.5 years old, very docile and purring all day long. A real Oriental princess.
