My name is Simba and this is my story. Or how disabled cats enjoy their lives

Thank God, there are also people who adopt disabled cats. Blindness is no reason to put an otherwise healthy cat down, as cats can compensate the loss of their eyesight with their other excellent senses. Simba is only one example for many blind cats. There is also another cat called Little Star, she is now called Annie and was brought to Germany by Miriam from the organisation TTAA-Deutschland. The experience with Annie encouraged Claudia and Jürgen from KitznKatz Europa to adopt Simba. Many thanks to all people involved.

Please also read the story of another blind kitty, Queeny.

I was born in June 2006. In July 2006 I was brought to the Hobbiton. This is how I looked like:
During a neutering campaign by TTAA in October 2006, Markus, a very nice vet, examined my "eyes". He said that I should be brought to a specialist as soon as possible. I was still called Woody at that time. That name was given to me by Lizzy, a very nice and funny Irish girl working for TTAA.
Claudia and Jürgen from KitznKatz Europa brought me to Germany.
I immediately felt at home with my foster parents Claudia and Jürgen. I enjoyed the company of other cats and was able to play the whole day.
On October 6th I was examined by the eye specialist Dr. Fritsche. He said that I have to undergo surgery and only during the operation he will be able to say if I can keep my eyes or not. I was operated on Octber 11th. Unfortunately my eyes were so bad that he could not save them. But I had never been able to see with my eyes anyway.
The worst thing was that I had to wear that damn collar for 10 days, but I got used to it.
Luckily I got rid of that stupid collar and was able to resume my favourite hobby: playing with cat toys.

Nobody should dare saying a blind cat has no quality of life.

March 2007. Am I not a beautiful tom-cat?
Finally springtime. I can sunbath on Claudiaīs and Jürgenīs porch. Of course they have a safety fence.

Yes, you got it right. My foster parents, cat-crazy folks, adopted me.
